Tar Pits are naturally occurring and hidden formations that hold an intriguing secret. However, the only way to discover what this secret is involves you having to crack the Tar Pit puzzle.

When you first stumble upon one of these formations in Tower of Fantasy, the game describes it as a “cave full of flammable petroleum blocks”, with an extra emphasis on the word “flammable”. While this can easily be perceived as a warning, it’s actually your first hint to solving the Tar Pit puzzle.
Since the entire structure is flammable, all you need to do is use a flame-element weapon to destroy the Tar Pit. Which you should have from simply progressing through the introduction of Tower of Fantasy. Although, if you don’t yet have a flame-element weapon, you can also go and find yourself a Fire Core and throw it at the Tar Pit. These Fire Cores can be obtained by breaking apart the fiery rock pillars spread throughout the game.
To solve Tar Pit puzzles in Tower of Fantasy, all you need to do is hit the Tar Pit with a fire weapon to blast it open. If you’re able to perform this successfully, then a Black Nucleus will reveal itself to you, as you will have solved the puzzle. You will get Exploration Points for interacting with the Tar Pit as well.
