Sons of the Forest is an exciting horror-survival adventure that will not only allow you to use the in-game AI companions but will allow you to play with up to 8 teammates! However, the game is pretty realistic so you would have to take care not to kill any of your friends since the friendly fire is unforgiving.
Since these kinds of games are much more fun to play with friends, naturally many players have been asking themselves if there will be a dedicated server option so they can host their own server. Here’s what we know so far.

Setting Up a Dedicated Server for Sons of the Forest
Unfortunately, there isn’t an option for setting up a dedicated server for Sons of the Forest at this time. This is probably a fact due to the game being in its early release days.
However, you can easily check if Sons of the Forest has received its dedicated servers on Steam and install it in a few steps. When you open up the Steam app on your PC look to your left and click on a drop-down box that says “Games”. By default “Tools” will be unchecked. Check “Tools” and type “Sons of the Forest” in the search box. As soon as their dedicated server is available, you will see it on the list there and Steam will allow you to install it.
Dedicated servers for other Steam games can be found in the same place as well so if you are looking to host a multiplayer game for another game while waiting for the Sons of Forest, you can definitely do it by following the same steps from above.
Dedicated servers are loved by many players for multiple reasons. They allow for a smooth connection that can handle the high traffic demands, reduces lag, and glitches, and has fewer connection problems. All of this is enabled without impacting game performance.
