How to Get Seeds in Sons of the Forest

Planting your way to sustainability.

I lack the patience and the skill to plant some seeds and see them grow and mature. The most patience I have for doing things is cooking a steak, or downloading a game. Oh yes, that’s sad, but what’s even sadder is that I feel the same way for planting in video games. But well, we need to survive, and we can’t just go hunting every day. Here is how to get seeds in Sons of the Forest. And well, we will plant them as well, *sigh*.

You may pick up food and eat it while hunting wildlife. However, if you like to keep things sustainable over time, you may want to consider building some planters to, well, plant your own seed and be able to grow your own food. To do so, your best chance is to explore the forest and collect the plant that are scattered all over the place. They will have a chance to drop some seeds for you to collect, so you just go ahead and pick up the entire forest if necessary.

Once you have acquired some seeds, head to your base and create a planter by using the Crafting Book. Press B and then hold X to switch its mode. Once you have the Gardening options on sight, you will be able to craft both a Wall Planter (as seen below) or a Standing Planter. They will set you back 16 sticks and 18 sticks, respectively. Once built, get close to it and press E to bring up the seeds you have available to plant. Choose the right seed and plant it. Wait 2 to 3 days, and you will have your grown plant available for you to pick up.

This is just the first steps for you to be self-sustainable, so go ahead and combine the planters and some animal traps to get whatever you need to survive, at any time. Just pick a place near the water for your base, and you will be able to live forever, until you are killed by mutants or cannibals. Oh well, at least you got those plants growing! Have a good day! Phew, that wasn’t so bad, wasn’t it?
