How to Save Uncle Tonin in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

Saving Uncle Tonin is one of the more obvious colony members you can save upon your second playthrough. Since he requires a few more additional steps in rescuing, here's how you can keep him alive.

Saving Uncle Tonin will almost absolutely be the very next person you will set your sights on in rescuing once you clear the initial task of saving Tammy, the very first tragedy of existing in the world of I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. There are not too many steps involved when saving him but there is a bit more to it unlike the one and only selection needed to be made when rescuing Tammy. Here’s where they differentiate and how you can save Uncle Tonin.

How to save Uncle Tonin

Saving Uncle Tonin has a couple more requirements much like the rest of the other characters who need saving from here on out, such as mum and dad. It instead acts as a subtle learning curve in how to go about rescuing the characters who require a few more additional steps when a lot more is involved unlike the saving of Tammy.

So, with saving Uncle Tonin, the rescue itself requires having a good relationship with Dys before the second year hits. Aim for around 10 points in your bond with Dys, accumulated by conversing with him when he has a speech bubble above him and by giving him gifts he likes (make sure that this is not a cake no matter what!).

Additionally, you need to have your toughness skill level to be around the 20 mark to be able to unlock sneaking out of the colony at this age. Do this by selecting the shovelling dirt job role in Geoponics, which is automatically unlocked within your first year. Alternatively, you can play sportsball at the Garrison if you have unlocked it after conversing with Anemone to make it available, but this only gives +1 Toughness unlike the +3 Toughness when shovelling dirt.

Once reaching the late Wet season of the second year, choose to sneak out of the colony once your toughness is high enough and once Uncle Tonin leaves. A creature encounter will occur with a subsequent card battle starting which requires the combat skill to be in check at this point. Interact with Dys at the furthest corner of the map from the starting point to locate this creature and event. Winning the card battle here will save Uncle Tonin.

Now set your sights on saving the rest of the colony to progress ever that bit closer to achieving its Golden Ending!
