How to save Nix in Kold Mirage in Cyberpunk 2077

The Kold Mirage quest brings you out into some remote areas, where you’ll need to inspect a freezer from 2020. After retrieving an ancient cyberdeck, you’ll need to bring it to the Afterlife and have one of the mercs try and figure out what’s on it. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse. Here’s how to save Nix in the Kold Mirage side job in Cyberpunk 2077.

Always somethin’ interesting to be found at the dump. Take a half-dead, half-brain merc with an experimental chip in their head, for example. Or, in this case, a freezer from 2020… a glimpse into the past.

The quest begins after you’ve completed a few missions at The Afterlife, Night City’s hotspot for mercs. It will pop up in your journal and have you go open a freezer out in the middle of nowhere. You’ll notice Dexter DeShawn’s body next to the freezer, where you can loot an Iconic Weapon called Plan B. Pick that up if you haven’t already.

Open up the freezer, and speak with Johnny to learn a little about Bartmoss. He’ll tell you to snag the SGI Tech “Elysla” cyberdeck. Johnny says there’s a guy named Nix at The Afterlife who knows legacy tech like this.

Take the cyberdeck to Nix and ask him to check out what’s on it. If you have ten intelligence, you can choose the locked option, but the outcome will be the same. Nix will lay down on his chair to check out the tech. As Nix says that Bartmoss could have done better, the tech will start to broil his brain.

Your next objective in Kold Mirage is to find a way to save Nix. The last thing V needs on his/her mind is this guy’s death. To save Nix, look for the control panel on the wall to the left of his computer. Walk over to it and hold your interact key to override the system.

After you reset the system and killing the power, Nix will wake up. He’ll be a little disappointed that the deck got wiped, but it’s better than dying for no reason. Nix will give you a shard with some live daemons on it. He says it will prove useful for you. Don’t worry about Nix, he’ll be fine after some shots of whiskey.
