How to Romance Brakka in Harvestella

Wanting to hand over that well-earned Promise Ring to Harvestella's resident emo tsundere? Here's how.

Harvestella has Square Enix trying something fresh and new as a life-sim with farming mechanics and everything that typically go into such a genre. It’s at the very least outside of the norm from the high-profile developer. It has also become a well-known fact that how Harvestella handles its bonding system is one of its most unusual features.

Harvestella instead has a partnership mechanic whereby typical gameplay for such a title would consist of gift giving or at least daily conversing. But bonding in Harvestella instead has a more organic development and progresses alongside its story beats. Here’s what you need to know in romancing Brakka specifically.

How to Romance Brakka in Harvestella

To obtain Partnership status with Brakka, you will need to clear its main story. Alongside completing its main premise, keep track of Brakka’s character specific quests. These quests will always be noted down in your Diary, located just underneath the story option.

Some of these character specific quests will be unavailable to trigger and experience depending on how early or quickly you build up your Closeness level with its pursuable characters. This is indicated via the Diary progression if its bars are greyed out. This will also helpfully always be noted that you will have to wait for a follow-up letter to arrive because you have not advanced enough of its main storyline.

As far as his own character specific quests are concerned, we have a run-down of them below:

  • Story event 1: Triggered once players obtain the letter “Don’t forget.” from Brakka in their mailbox. This is located just outside your house and will be refreshed every morning. His character story event of Life as a Mercenary will commence. Your first port of call is meeting the Argene innkeeper in the Holy Capital Argene.
  • Story event 2: Brakka will send players the letter of “Correction.” His character story event of Flickering Shadow will start up and it will require the player to meet with him at his hideout in Argene. Return back to the inn in the Holy Capital Argene once more and go to his hideout.
  • Story event 3: Brakka will send out the letter “DON’T talk to me.” to the player character. Pursuer character chapter will commence, and players will have to track Brakka down somewhere in Lethe. That somewhere will be in Lethe Village – simply follow the map around starting in the right direction to bump into him.
  • Story event 4: Brakka will send a letter titled “Sorry.” to the player. Meet with him at his hideout once again when his character story event of An End to Revenge pops up. Watch the scene play out then meet him at the small settlement near Lethe. This is located just behind your home depicted on its world map interface.
  • Story event 5: This time, the Innkeeper will send the letter that kick starts the character quest – “He’s been acting kinda weird.” Meet with Brakka at his hideout once Life after Revenge appears.
  • Story event 6: Brakka will ask that you come to his Hideout via his letter “Come to the hideout.” for the sixth character questline of his titled The Hallowed’s True Form.
  • Story event 7: The Innkeeper will once again commence this next character quest on Brakka’s behalf, via the letter of “You’ve gotta do something!”. The quest A New Menace will need you to visit Brakka once again at his hideout.
  • Story event 8: Brakka will require the assistance of the player character via the letter of “I’ll be waiting in Argene.” The character questline of One Thing After Another will require the player meeting with Brakka in front of the gate to the Divine Seaslight Cave. Travel to the Holy Capital Argentine and head to its West Gate. Brakka will be at its entrance. Players will then have to kill the Hallowed lurking in the field of Flos-Indulgentia. Now head to the Divine Seadlight Cave and get to the location of V Chilled Confinement within it. IV Flos-Indulgentia Flower Bed will be just in front of you.
  • Story event 9: Brakka will send the letter of “Come with me.” to the player character. The Strength to Overcome will commence and will require players to go back to the small settlement behind the location of their house.
  • Story event 10: “Whenever you’re not busy.” is the final letter of Brakka’s character story questline. Head back to his hideout to clear his last chapter of A Reward without Form.

Bonding with Brakka through its Closeness system

Bonding through Closeness levels is what will open up Brakka’s, as well as Harvestella’s other pursuable characters’ story quests. This can only be done and increased by clearing each one. Outside factors such as preparing, cooking and sharing meals with party members does not affect these levels, but these do instead unlock new lines of dialogue. For example, make Ice Cream when Bakka and Asyl are in your party together.

Once you have cleared the main story and all ten of Brakka’s quests, another letter will arrive in your mailbox containing the recipe to make the Promise Ring. You can then make your relationship with Brakka exclusive and have him living in your own house in the postgame content.
