Marriage in Harvestella is not exactly the deal here. Rather, both the progression and destination of such a relationship is not a traditional one. Romance in Harvestella is completely contained within its endgame content. Whoever takes your fancy, you will want to have completed their character-exclusive events/storylines. This will max out their intimacy meter.
You will be able to do this with all its pursuable characters. The intention here is to familiarise and bond with said pursuable characters, adding depth to their characterization across the mainline story. The only time things get serious is in its postgame content.
This will open up the opportunity to experience and complete partnership events with the romanceable characters that you have maxed out their intimacy meter with. Once doing so, you will obtain the recipe to make the Promise Ring item through your mailbox. This is a one-off item to gift and secure the partnership status with any romanceable character you have completed their character-exclusive events with. This is done by sending it out via a letter.
Once securing a partnership, your special NPC will settle down in your house for the rest of your time in the game. This opens up new and additional dialogue to experience.
Please keep in mind that Harvestella prioritizes its story and RPG mechanics over its other features. This includes romance.
