How to Prepare for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

1. Prepare Your Toons

Alt accounts are a critical tool in the modern WoW player’s arsenal. They’re vessels for increased wealth, better gear, and generally make it much easier to reach goals. If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to get your toons ready for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion.

You can spend time grinding them up to 120, leveling their professions, and getting them better gear. Doing this will ensure that they’re ready to serve their purpose as soon as Shadowlands drops in November.

2. Stock Up On Talent Tree Changing Tomes

Now is also a good time to stock up on tomes that will allow your characters to change talents. Tome of Clear Mind was released in the Warlords of Draenor expansion and works up until level 109. The Legion version still works up until level 120. Based on the most recent version of the Shadowlands alpha, it’s likely that these will continue working once that releases.

Many WoW market analysts are predicting there will be an increased need for these totems once the Shadowlands expansion drops. You’re going to be able to save money by purchasing these now instead of waiting until they increase in price after Shadowlands.

You also may want to start stocking up on the scribes needed to craft tomes. These will also likely end up costing more on the market after Shadowlands drops. Purchasing scribes in bulk now is an investment strategy that should pay considerable dividends for you in just a few months.

3. Stockpile Gold

This is a solid fallback option to have whenever you feel like there’s not much going on in the World of Warcraft universe. Gold is something that your characters will always need. It’s the key to getting your best in slot gear, your dream mount, and everything else you want in the game.

When Shadowlands drops, the last thing you’re going to want to do is farm gold. Instead of putting it off until then, get started now. By stocking up, you’ll be ready to take full advantage of all Shadowlands content from day one. If you need some help, check out handy BFA gold-farming strategies.

4. Save Up For the Caravan Brutosaur

The Caravan Brutosaur is one of the hottest mounts in World of Warcraft right now. It’s also one of the most expensive, costing players a cool 5 million gold to purchase. If you’re at all interested in owning the Caravan Brutosaur mount, consider amping up your efforts for it now.

Blizzard has confirmed that the mount will no longer be sold from vendors once Shadowlands drops. That means if you want it from the future, you’re going to have to buy it on the black market. Here, it will likely cost you much more than 5 million gold, especially as time goes on and the mount becomes rarer.

5. Take a Break

This can be a hard one for WoW players, but now is the perfect time to take a break from the game. Once you’ve leveled your alts, saved gold, and gotten everything else out of BFA you want, a solid break will do more good than anything else in getting you ready for Shadowlands.

Consider spending some time outside, with friends, or playing other games that you’ve neglected until now. Doing this will prepare you to restart the grind at full force once this expansion finally drops. If you’ve been thinking about how to prepare for WoW Shadowlands, then a nice break should absolutely be a part of your strategy.
