How Do You Melee in Phantom Brigade?
In order to melee other players in Phantom Brigade, you will first need to have a mech that is well-suited for this. Mechs without a lot of mass are not advised to go bashing into others, since this can cause your own mech to take more damage than you would want from a risky melee maneuver. However, if you have a mech that can take on the competition up close, feel free to close the distance to do battle!
When you make contact with an attack, a circle that is colored orange will show around your unlucky enemy. Make sure that your red line is going through them so that you know you’re op target. Also, when you hit the enemy you will cause a yellow collision bubble to appear, and obviously will notice the effects of the hit. Just be sure that you are in a higher weight class, since a melee dash attack can lead to hurting yourself as well if you aren’t that much heavier (or are in a lighter weight class). In fact, we recommend that players aim to melee another mech and then continue onwards, since repositioning yourself in Phantom Brigade can be very difficult after a melee attack if you’re still close to an enemy.
Keep in mind that when you aim your melee, you will use your thruster range. This unfortunately means that you will have a smaller minimal range than your melee minimal range and may lead you to misfire and not connect with your opponent by stopping short or aiming too far. Therefore, remembering that you are aiming with your thruster range is of the utmost importance when looking to smash into another mech (of a smaller weight class!! Remember this people!) in Phantom Brigade.
