How to Make Reinforced Deepslate in Minecraft

It's like a more stylish bedrock.

It’s kind of fun when you find ancient subterranean ruins in fantasy settings because they’re usually full of some manner of inexplicably advanced technology. How did they do what they did, and why didn’t those practices survive in the modern world? That’s definitely a question that looms over the Ancient Cities in Minecraft, and particularly the Reinforced Deepslate that permeates them. Speaking of which, can you make Reinforced Deepslate in Minecraft?

How to Make Reinforced Deepslate in Minecraft

Unfortunately, the answer is no, you can’t make Reinforced Deepslate in Minecraft. In fact, you can’t even get it, at least not in Survival Mode. It only appears naturally in the Ancient Cities found in the Deep Dark biome, and it can’t be mined, broken, pushed, or even blown up. Even an attack by a Wither or Ender Dragon wouldn’t scuff this stuff. The only way to obtain Reinforced Deepslate in Survival Mode is through the use of console commands, and even then, you can’t really do anything with it. It’s basically just a slightly more stylish bedrock.

However, while you can’t get or make Reinforced Deepslate in Minecraft, you can get regular Deepslate. Deepslate is the dark-colored stone blocks that are commonly found around the Deep Dark. It has double the hardness of regular stone, so it could be used for simple defensive structures. To get Deepslate blocks, just mine some Deepslate with a pickaxe to get some Cobbled Deepslate, then smelt that in a furnace to get a regular Deepslate block.

If you’re playing Minecraft in Creative Mode, you can obtain and place Reinforced Deepslate anywhere you want by simply grabbing it from the Creative menu. It will still retain its immense hardness, so it is a nice way to shore up any constructs from the elements.
