How to Make Chains in Minecraft

Many people didn’t even know you could craft chains in Minecraft; many Minecraft players originally thought that, like chain armor, chains could only be obtained through raiding structures or chests. Thankfully, that’s not the case! Chains couldn’t be any easier or cheaper to craft in Minecraft!

All you need to craft a single chain in Minecraft is 1 Iron Ingot and 2 Iron Nuggets. Once you have these materials, the rest is easy! In a crafting table, place the Iron Ingot in one of the middle crafting squares, and then place 1 Iron Nugget on top of and below the Iron Ingot. Once you’ve got your Iron Ingot vertically sandwiched between 2 Iron Nuggets, you should be able to craft a single chain in Minecraft!

Can Chains be Used to Craft Chain Armor?

You cannot, unfortunately, use chains to craft chain armor. There’s still no way to craft chain armor in Minecraft, though you can still obtain it through mob drops, trading, or through structure-generated chests. Many Minecraft players were excited about the introduction of chains to the game in the 1.16 update but were disappointed when they realized they couldn’t use them to craft anything (such as armor). Just because you can’t craft with them, however, doesn’t mean chains are useless!
