How to Make a Fire Shiny Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A special kind of sandwich

Many players have already completed the base game of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For those who have finished the main game switch onto Shiny Hunting and Tera Raid Battling. With the added ability to make sandwiches to increase the likelihood of running into a Shiny Pokémon, this offers a new experience for players used to using the key item of a Shiny Charm to find those rare and special Pokémon. Buy common ingredients, find those rare Herbs and make Shiny Sandwiches. Here is our guide to making a Fire Shiny Sandwich in Scarlet and Violet.

What is a Fire Shiny Sandwich?

A Shiny Sandwich increases the chances of the player locating a specific Shiny Pokémon-Type. The game offers 18 Shiny Sandwiches, all of which require both common and special ingredients to make. Be mindful that when using Herba Mystica, players should not use more than two per sandwich as it negates its effect. The Shiny Sandwich recipe to temporarily aid players for 30 minutes in searching for a Shiny Fire-Type Pokémon is: Basil, x1 Salty Herba Mystica and x1 Sweet Herba Mystica.

The sandwiches used in the Picnic function of the game both increases the chances of catching and finding specific Pokémon and an increased bonus for higher EXP after a battle and dropped items. The Picnics act as a fast-track method to gaining a mass amount of EXP to level up the Pokémon in your active party. For players having beaten the game already, the hunt for Shiny Pokémon is on, preparing for the future Black Tera Pokémon Events. Sandwiches offer these Meal Powers depending on the recipe and ingredients used:

  • Catching – Catching a specific Pokémon chance increase.
  • EXP – Battle a specific Pokémon gives an EXP Points increase.
  • Egg – Picnic basket Pokémon egg locator.
  • Encounter – A wild Pokémon chance increase.
  • Humungo – A large Pokémon chance increase.
  • Teensy – A small Pokémon chance increase.
  • Title – A titled Pokémon chance increase.
  • Sparkling – A Shiny Pokémon chance increase.
  • Item Drop – A fallen Pokémon dropped item increase.
  • Raid – A Tera Raid Pokémon dropped item increase.

To increase your chances of finding a Fire-Type Shiny Pokémon, players can make a Fire Shiny Sandwich. Here is where to get the ingredients for this recipe.

Where to Get Basil

The first and common ingredient of Basil is found in three areas of the Paldea region. The easiest and earliest method of obtaining Basil is through the Deli Cioso shop in the central city of Mesagoza. Refer to the screenshot below for the exact location of this stall (black circle on the map). Players can also visit the Deli Cioso in the Porto Marinada Market. To find this Market, go to the western border of Paldea, in between Asado Desert and West Province (Area Two). Players can locate the stall on the far-left side of the Market, near the entrance stairs.

The final place players can locate Basil within the eastern Paldea city, Levincia. In the northern side of this city there is a Supermarket called Aquiesta. Here houses many ingredients including that of rarer options that may be useful for making other Shiny Sandwiches. Such as Kwalf Stick to make the Ice Shiny Sandwich. The pricing of Basil is 280 Pokémon Dollars in all Grocery shops. Refer to the screenshot below of the exact location to find Aquiesta Supermarket in Levincia (black circle on the map).

Where to Get Salty Herba Mystica

After beating the base game, players will then be introduced to the main post-credit aspect of the game which is Shiny Hunting. To increase your chances of finding Shiny Pokémon, players can get charms and make sandwiches for their active Pokémon in the Picnic function. Those making these lucky Shiny Sandwiches require Herba Mysticas, originally shown to the player in the Path of Legends questline. Whilst these herbs upgrade your legendary Pokémon Miraidon/Koraidon, there are not really seen again, and players can only collect one as a reward of beating each Titan. That is until you adventure into Shiny Pokémon hunting.

To get the Salty Herba Mystica, players must beat 5- and 6-Star Raids. These are found scattered across the Paldea region as giant glimmering crystals. Approach these to determine the Star rating of the Tera Pokémon inside. As most of these crystals range from 1-4 Star Pokémon, players need to keep searching for 5- and 6-Star crystals.

Raid Pokemon to Beat that can drop Salty Herba Mystica

  • 5 Star – Slowbro, Cloyster, Gengar, Blissey, Glalie, Drifblim, Hippowdon, Amoonguss, Eelektross, Avalugg, Greedent, Corviknight, Coalossal, Copperajah, Dondozo, Palafin, Orthworm, Cetitan & Garganacl
  • 6 Star – Vaporeon, Blissey, Pelipper, Torkoal, Hippowdon, Amoonguss, Avalugg, Toxapex, Corviknight, Farigiraf, Dondozo, Orthworm, Cetitan, Klawf, Garganacl & Dachsbun

For this recipe, alongside the other Shiny Pokémon recipes, players must obtain x1 Salty Herba Mystica for each Pokémon-Type Shiny Recipe. The other Herb can be any of the other three Herbs: Sweet, Spicy or Sour. This guide will show you where to find the Sweet Herba Mystica.

Where to Get Sweet Herba Mystica

Raid Pokémon to Beat that can drop Sweet Herba Mystica

  • 5 Star – Raichu, Gengar, Ditto, Delibird, Blissey, Sableye, Glalie, Drifblim, Weavile, Froslass, Amoonguss, Eelektross, Talonflame, Noivern, Dragapult, Dondozo, Palafin, Cetitan & Pawmot
  • 6 Star – Ditto, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Blissey, Amoonguss, Talonflame, Dragapult, Farigiraf, Dondozo, Maushold, Cetitan, Cyclizar, Kilowattrel & Grafaiai

Focus on 5 Star Raids

Players should aim to fight the Raid Pokémon which offer a higher chance of dropping these special and rare ingredients. These are a 76% chance increase of obtaining Herba Mystica via 5 Star Raids and an 83% chance increase in 6 Star Raids. We recommend that players target 5 Star Raids as the increased chances of obtaining the Herbs via 6 Star Raids is small compared to 5. Players will save more time by focusing on 5 Star Raids instead. When all ingredients are gathered, players can craft this recipe and see that the sandwich will give Sparkling Power 3, Title Power 3 and Encounter Power 3 for the specific Pokémon-Type, Fire.

5 Star Raids (76% Chance)

  • Gengar
  • Blissey
  • Glalie
  • Drifblim
  • Amoongus
  • Eelektross
  • Dondozo
  • Palafin
  • Cetitan

6 Star Raids (83% Chance)

  • Blissey
  • Amoongus
  • Vaporeon
  • Dondozo
  • Farigiraf
  • Cetitan

To reiterate a point from earlier, players can use Sour or Spicy Herb Mystica in replacement of Sweet, however Salty Herb Mystica must be used in this Shiny Sandwich. Players can fight both 5- and 6-Star Raid Pokémon to obtain these Herbs exactly like searching for both Salty and Sweet Herbs.
