Give the members of the Wizarding World this, they are excellent at compartmentalizing. You know how hard it is to comfortably bring a live animal long-distance with you normally? If you’re a wizard, just stick ’em in a magic bag, easy peasy! To experience this wonderful convenience, here’s how to learn Nab-Sack in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Learn Nab-Sack in Hogwarts Legacy
The Nab-Sack is a special ability you’ll learn during the course of the main questline in Hogwarts Legacy. If you’re familiar with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, this will seem familiar to you. Basically, it’s a magical, infinitely deep suitcase that, when opened, creates a powerful vacuum suction.

You can’t use the Nab-Sack on people or enemies, unfortunately, but you can use it to capture small magical beasts. One of the extra mechanics in Hogwarts Legacy is capturing wild beasts in the overworld and bringing them to Hogwarts’ Vivarium to keep them safe from roaming poachers. The Nab-Sack is the linchpin in this process.
Obtaining the Nab-Sack
The bad news is that you can’t rescue any animals until you have the Nab-Sack ability. The good news is that you can’t miss it; you’ll receive it automatically as part of the main story quest, “The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom.” You will need to progress the story up to that point, as well as finish your first Beasts class to unlock it.
In this quest, Deek the House Elf will present you with the Nab-Sack and teach you how to use it. It’s very simple: just stand near the target beast and press the button you have the ability assigned to in order to begin sucking it up. The meter will gradually start filling up, though you’ll need to move toward the beast and stay close to keep filling it. If you can fill the meter all the way, the beast will be captured, but if it gets too far away, you’ll need to start over.
In that same quest, you’ll get access to the Vivarium in the Room of Requirement. You can deposit any beasts you catch in there for safekeeping, and you can also interact with them to get materials like fur or feathers. If you need a source of magical odds and ends, the Vivarium’s the place to go.
