Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG game that takes place in the 1800s, set a century before the game’s inspiration of Harry Potter. Developed by Avalanche Software, this videogame has been long-awaited by fans of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World for a few years now. In the game, players are able to learn many of the popular spells from the original saga, as well as tame and breed magical beasts, grow plants and brew powerful potions to aid them in combat and throughout the game.
Many of Hogwarts’ original surroundings remain unchanged, and a lot of easter eggs feature in Hogwarts Legacy. One of the creatures brought into the new videogame is the Giant Squid, who resides in the lake next to Hogwarts. In this guide, we explore how to get into the Giant Squid’s lair and whether or not you can actually interact with it.

How Do You Get to the Giant Squid’s Lair?
Your first step to getting into the Giant Squid’s cave is to swim there! You will need to get down to the cave in order to see where the squid lives, however it is not currently in the cave when you arrive — nor will it ever be. There is a squid art mosaic on the wall that is pretty to look at, and you can unlock the Jackdaw’s Rest quest by placing toast on a pedestal in the lair.
If you truly want to see the Giant Squid in Hogwarts Legacy, you will need to be in the Slytherin Common Room to make this happen. Firstly, your character must interact with the viewing glass that shows Black Lake. Next, keep your eyes on the water and you may see the Giant Squid go swimming by, annoyed at the vibrations your incessant tapping has caused. Unfortunately, that is the closest you can come to actually interacting with the Giant Squid in Hogwarts Legacy, but it is still way better than nothing!
