How to Hotwire a Car in Thief Simulator 2?

Don't panic sweat on the open wires.

Although there is no opening a driving car’s door and pulling the driver out of the front seat, grand theft auto is certainly a big gameplay mechanic in Thief Simulator 2. Vehicles are highly valuable in this stealth game, all about collecting other people’s possessions and selling them on to boost XP and street cred as a robber who takes themselves very seriously. Whilst the range of value varies depending on the vehicle you have stolen, the Junkyard is available for those looking to make a quick getaway and some cash for such risky plays. This is Vincent’s guide on how to hotwire a car in Thief Simulator 2.

How to Steal a Car in Thief Simulator 2?

Car thievery can be done the moment you step into a vehicle that does not belong to you. Of course, you will want first to disable the car’s alarm to avoid attracting any unwanted attention, as unlocking the door will result in a blaring alarm, which no burglar wants to have to deal with. Different vehicles require different lockpick tools to unlock the car door. These are Car Lock Pick Guns and Car Key Signal Cloners.

You are required to have the Car Theft Skill (requires Level 10) unlocked in order to hotwire a vehicle. Any cars that have an alarm will go off if you attempt to unlock the door with only a Level 1 Car Theft Skill. For these, you will need Level 2 Skill (requires XP Level 15).

To hotwire a vehicle, the task at hand is to place the green, red, and blue wires into the correct slot in the 8-slot grid. To see the order in which each wire needs to be placed, you need to right mouse-click (PC).

Each spark you see will dictate which order you need to press and insert the three wires. Whilst you do not necessarily need to know that the order of wires is green, red, and blue, using the sparks will tell you the order in which you need to insert each wire into the grid.

You only need to put in 3 wires to start the car. After which, you will want to open the garage door and exit immediately (depending on the location of the house residents).

If you assign the wires to the wrong slots, the car owner will be alerted to your presence and likely call the police. So make sure you use the correct lock-picking tool first to unlock the car, and then watch the order in which the sparks appear so that you can assign the wires to the corresponding spark placement. After this, open the garage and drive off, giving you a large sum of cash to check into the Junkyard after a hard day’s work.
