Lost Ark, much like just about any large-scale MMORPG, features an absolutely gigantic overworld to traverse and explore. Even if you’ve been keeping up with your cardio, that much land is a nightmare to traverse on foot. Thankfully, Lost Ark has a mount system to get you from point A to point B much faster, and more stylishly to boot. Here’s how to get and use mounts in Lost Ark.
How to Get Mounts in Lost Ark
Generally speaking, there are two ways to get mounts in Lost Ark: completing quests and buying them. Certain quests throughout the game, both mainline quests and sidequests, can occasionally reward you with a mount upon their completion, in the same way you’d get items or equipment from completing a quest. You’ll actually get your first mount pretty early in the game; arriving in Prideholme after completing the game’s Prologue will reward you with one of three basic horses for your travel needs.

If regular brown horses don’t do it for you, though, you can also get fancier horses and other mountable critters from the in-game store. Some of these can be bought piecemeal for Royal Crystals from either the store or the Auction House, while others can be randomly dropped by event chests. Either way, though, you’re going to have to pay up some real money for these more impressive mounts.
How to Use Mounts in Lost Ark
Once you’ve got a mount to call your own, hopping aboard is pretty easy. Mounts are stored in a separate inventory from your items and gear, and you can call them out anywhere they’re permitted. Here’s how to summon your mount:
- Press Alt + V on your keyboard to bring up the mount menu
- You should see a list of all of the mounts in your possession. Simply click on the icon for the one you want to ride, and it’ll appear
- You can also drag a mount’s icon to your hotbar, where you can summon it with a quick click
- When you want to get off, just click the icon again
Don’t be shy about using your mounts whenever you can. No reason to tire out your feet when you’ve got a perfectly good horse, after all.
