How to Get Monarch in Borderlands 3

  • Weapon: Monarch
  • Area: Promethea, Lectra City
  • Boss: Killavolt
  • Difficulty: Mayhem 6 or higher

First, it’s important to note you need to make sure your game is on Mayhem 6 or higher to farm for this weapon. Next, you need to have Lectra City available. If you haven’t been here yet, you need to complete the quest from Moxxi called “Kill Killavolt” to unlock it.

To start it off, go to Promethea and head to Lectra City. The boss we need to kill to farm for the Monarch is Killavolt. He’s located all the way towards the end of the map. There is a save area just before the boss, so be sure to check that out to make the walk to Killavolt a lot quicker. You should be able to find this within 20 or so runs on Mayhem 6 difficulty or higher, but it does depend on your luck.

The Monarch can drop in all the elements, and the weapon has an extremely high rate of fire. It fires four bullets at once and has a bipod mode which doubles the damage while sacrificing speed and won’t allow you to run or jump. The modifier that grants 50% speed when killing enemies can negate this speed decrease.

Compared to the Dictator, the Monarch has higher damage and better bullet spread making it a better weapon overall.
