The designers provide an emotional, behind-the-scenes look at intersteller travel in Kerbal Space Program 2. This is a game with a lot of heart, humanity, and science involved. As of publication, this game is in early access after four major delays. Currently, only the Sandmox mode is playable.

While we’re still in early access development, you can’t travel to other systems just yet — but you will be able to in the near future. You can leave the Kerbol system towards the end of early access development. What we do know is that interstellar travel will largely focus on the propulsion system development you have access to.
At first, you’ll be able to head to Debdeb, the closest star available for travel, but expansions will provide more additions. You’ll get to build space colonies as well. The colony building phase will keep the game’s tone fun and light (because the green characters are freaking adorable and goofy!) in a way that complements the serious philosophical questions behind interstellar travel.

If you’re hoping to enjoy interstellar travel at the end of the early access phase, I recommend focusing on becoming a master of accuracy in interplanetary travel and learning everything you can about designing the perfect propulsion system.
