Here’s a fun fact: a gun’s caliber refers to the diameter of its barrel. Larger calibers mean the gun can shoot larger bullets, and larger bullets… well, you don’t need me to spell that one out. Point is, having a heavier caliber on your guns in Warframe can go a long way toward gunning down chunky foes that may otherwise resist regular pea shooters. Here’s how to get the Heavy Caliber Mod in Warframe.
How to Get Heavy Caliber Mod for Warframe
The Heavy Caliber Mod in Warframe can be attached to any primary ranged weapon with the lone exception of shotguns. Heavy Caliber is a Corrupted Mod, which means it provides both buffs and debuffs. Specifically, when attached, the Heavy Caliber Mod provides a big percentage bonus to the weapon’s damage, but also increases its spread, which reduces accuracy. That’s why you can’t put it on a shotgun; more spread on those things would be negligible, while the attack boost would be ridiculous.

Getting a Heavy Caliber Mod
So, how do you get your hands on this lovely noisemaker? Heavy Caliber Mods can only be obtained from Orokin Vault Missions, which you need Dragon Keys to access. Dragon Keys can be crafted with a Blueprint developed in the Clan Dojo, as well as 500 Credits, 250 Ferrite, and 10 Void Traces. However, there are four types of Dragon Key, and the key you’ll need is randomized, so you’d do well to make one of each before attempting an Orokin Vault Mission. Keep in mind that equipping a Dragon Key for a mission will also inflict you with a debuff, so you might want to get some buddies together to hold the other ones.
Once you’re keyed up, you can locate Orokin Vaults in any mission node on Deimos, with the exception of Cambion Drift, Magnacidium, Exequias, and Hyf. You need a mission with the Orokin Derelict tileset, so keep an eye out.
If you manage to track down a vault and open it with its proper key, you can claim the Corrupted Artifact within, which in turn rewards the whole team with a random Corrupted Mod. Whoever grabbed the artifact will also be stuck with their key debuff until the mission ends, though, so be ready for a rough exit.
Unfortunately, Heavy Calibur is only one of many different Corrupted Mods available, so if you want it, you’ll just have to keep cracking Orokin Vaults until you get lucky.
