How to get Drake Aloe in Potion Permit

The final material is within reach!

Some items can be very hard to find in games. In Potion Permit, your main goal is to locate all the materials you need to make potions but also complete side quests for characters too. The very last potion ingredient you’re likely to find is the Drake Aloe. It’s tied into the main storyline so you’ve got a lot of work to do before you get there but there’s a high chance a character or two will ask you for this material long before you get to actually finding it, so don’t panic. Here’s how to get Drake Aloe in Potion Permit.

Completing the story quest for Drake Aloe

Your search for the Drake Aloe inadvertently starts as soon as you access the 3rd area of the game, the Barren Wasteland. Midway into the wasteland, you’ll come across a pool of tainted water. You’ll find out this is connected to the main water source of the town as well and your job will be to investigate why it’s tainted. Forrest will automatically talk to you once you visit the pool and tell you to talk to Myer. He reveals to you that the poisonous pool was caused by a failed experiment from the last chemists who stayed in Moonbury and is part of why the townsfolk don’t trust them.

Myer will suggest looking for the hidden cave where the chemists conducted their failed experiments. The cave entrance is hidden north of the square-shaped rock in the Barren Wasteland. Talk to Forrest again and he will commission Runeheart to make a device to open up the entrance by collecting Razor Fins and Moonite. Once it’s been made, you can bust the cave entrance open and see inside the abandoned research facility of the old chemists you’ve replaced.

After a few cut-scenes of Matheo trying to blame you for the poisoned water pool, things get cleared up and Opalheart will help you figure out what to do next in the research facility. You’ll be given research and a new recipe to make Glowing Purified Water, one of the most complicated potions in the game.

Accessing Drake Aloe

Once you’ve made the Glowing Purified Water, take it to Myer. He will then take you back to the old chemist research cave and with the machine fixed and the Purified Water put into the pool, the Drake Aloe can finally grow healthy and clean again!

The quest is then completed and you did it! Now you go back to where the poisonous pool of water was, just south of the second fast travel point in the Barren Wasteland. Three separate Drake Aloe plants will grow around the water pool and you can harvest them every day from now on!

There you have it, the last and final material you will discover if you’ve explored all three areas thoroughly before completing this late-game story quest. You have finally gathered all materials you need to make potions and can harvest them as you wish.
