How to Get Bounty Suit and Gatlien Upgrades in High on Life

Don't think too hard about how upgrades work on living guns.

It would be an understatement to say that most of the characters in High on Life don’t have much confidence in your capabilities as a bounty hunter. The only way you’ll prove them wrong is by getting better at bounty hunting, and the best way to do that is to get lots of expensive doodads that make you cooler and let you do cooler stuff. Here’s how to get Bounty Suit and Gatlien upgrades in High on Life.

How to Get Bounty Suit and Gatlien Upgrades in High on Life

Once you start out as a bounty hunter in High on Life, you only have the base Bounty Suit and your Gatlien buddy Kenny to help you out. As you collect bounties and accrue Pesos, however, you can get upgrades for both your suit and Kenny, as well as any other Gatliens you pick up.

All of this is facilitated through Mr. Keeps’ Pawn Shop, the store in Glim City where you first picked up the Bounty Suit at Gene’s behest. Between bounty hunts, you can return to the pawn shop to purchase upgrades with your Pesos.

Purchasing Upgrades

There isn’t a menu or anything for this; there are a variety of boxes on the back shelf containing upgrades. Just look directly at a box with an upgrade you want to buy, and hold down the interact button to purchase it. Bounty Suit items, such as health upgrades and movement abilities, are on the far wall of the store, across from the entrance. Upgrades for Gatliens are on the far right wall of the store; every Gatlien has an upgrade available for their ammo capacity, reload speed, and special ability cooldown, as well as some kind of modifier for their special ability.

While Mr. Keeps is your primary source for upgrades, you can also find other shops here and there while you’re out in the field, and in fact, some of these shops sell special upgrades you can’t get at Mr. Keeps’. For instance, at the entrance to Dreg Town at Port Terrene, you’ll find a small storefront that sells an upgrade for Knifey.

Keep your eyes peeled for these smaller stores and some Pesos in your pocket. Keeping your armor tuned up and your Gatliens properly upgraded will go a long way toward keeping your butt un-vaporized.
