Use this tool to scout for enemies!

If you’re rusty on how to play Rust, you have come to the right place! In the hardcore survival game developed by Facepunch Studios, you can work with others or go it alone in your mission to stay alive for as long as possible and against all odds. The environment is hostile, other players are hostile and there is no help to turn towards. Showcase the best of your building skills and work to carve out a piece of land that will serve as your base in the game. Just make sure that nobody tries to blow it all sky high!

The game’s newest update centers all around radiofrequency and how you can use it to take down enemy bases or keep yourself safe with defenses controlled through computers. Now you can keep yourself safe and let machines do all of the dirty work involved in defending your base. All of this serves to support the main goal of every player, to survive! In this guide we cover how to craft and operate a radio controlled drone, which is a new tool launching alongside the latest Rust update.

How Do You Operate the New Drone in Rust?

The radio controlled drone in Rust is designed for scouting. You should put it to work as a reconnaissance machine, and patrol the skies above your base while keeping an eye on the ground below with its built-in camera. You can also use them to go into areas that may be dangerous for humans, such as checking out enemy bases in order to plan for a raid. Just make sure that they stay within a range of 500m, which is the maximum distance that they work at!

You can use these drones by connecting them to a Computer Station, which will allow you to control it through the terminal and use it for whatever you need. We recommend that you set up shop as close as possible to your target scouting area, because the range will need to be kept in mind as you fly your drone. If using it for defense, then this range problem will not be as much of an issue.

How Do You Craft Remote Controlled Drones?

In order to actually make this drone, you will need to have a workbench that is at least level 2. After that, make sure to collect 1 CCTV camera, 2 tech trash and 200 metal frags so that you can craft the remote controlled drone. It will be ready in 30 seconds and then you can pair it with a Computer Station and put it to use immediately! Have fun spying on your enemies and soaring high above the ground thanks to this little guy!
