One of the things that you can expect from waiting to play an early access game, is that, if the developers are true to their word, you will witness of new content being added constantly. That is exactly the case of Sons of the Forest, which, amongst its popularity, now founds itself with more content than before. Here is how to get and use firewood in Sons of the Forest.

How to Get and Use Firewood in Sons of the Forest

Creating a fire in Sons of the Forest is one of the most useful and straightforward parts of surviving in the wild. The hardest? Well, not getting eaten alive by morbid mutants and creatures. Well, fires do go out eventually, so their lifespan depended on the number of sticks and even rocks that you used to fuel and give stability to the fire itself.

However, thanks to the release of Patch 1, now there is a way to keep these fires going and going, and that’s through the use of firewood. What is firewood? Well, wood that’s on fire. Really, it is. So, to get some firewood, all you need to do is to chop down a tree and make small logs. Once you do, you will see that you will be able to cut them in half, like in the image below. Do it and collect them afterward.

Then, equip those logs you just have collected and head to your fireplace. If you don’t have any. Just put down some sticks (you will need more than one for this). You can also put down some rocks to give it more durability if you like. Finally, drop your wood logs and place them on top of the fire. You will now have firewood, essentially a never-ending fire source.

And that’s pretty much it! Be sure to collect all the materials you need throughout the island. Really, they are very common, and you can even instruct Kelvin to look for them in the wild. Having an unextinguishable fire thanks to the use of firewood sounds frightening, but if it is under control and allows you to cook your food, it is a great asset to have.
