How to Get a Shovel in Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest is a mix between sci-fi and reality that wants you to play a realistic Bear Grylls-type of adventure while simultaneously murdering aggressive cannibal mutants. This means that you need both the practical player vs environment skills as well as player vs hostile creatures skills.

Like any other survival simulation, this game will require you to get some basic equipment anyone stranded and lost would need. Tools like an axe, rope, matches/lighter, sticks, etc. are a must-have for a decent start and one of the things you can’t play without is the shovel. Before You Go Looking for a Shovel

Getting the shovel won’t be a walk in the park (as nothing is in this game) and you would need to already own a couple of items in your backpack before you embark on a trip looking for the shovel.

The things you would need before looking for the shovel are:

• Rope gun (found in the easternmost cave)
• Rebreather device (found in the northernmost cave)
• Torch/flashlight
• Some weapons

Locating the Shovel in Sons of the Forest

The shovel will be located in a cave, somewhere around the middle of the map. You will recognize it because it will have three bodies that seem like they’re standing in front of it but are in fact impaled on wooden sticks.

You would need to first break the wooden boards blocking your way in and proceed to the cave. The cave itself will have a couple of levels and everything will be really dark so don’t worry if you wander around a bit and don’t find the shovel quickly.

Follow the path until you see a zip line. Hook onto it and go all the way down. Proceed to dive in the water with Rebreather for a few minutes and then you will come to the surface again. Follow the narrow corridors of the cave until you find a sleek surface and slide downwards.

Walk down further into the cave until you see some abandoned equipment and dead workers. When you walk past a dead worker in black clothes, go left and follow a narrow corridor until you reach water again. Dive in again and after a minute you will resurface. Follow one more narrow corridor until you reach a wider part of the cave. Once there, just move forward until you see a single dead worker in an orange suit with a shovel.

What we described is only a walkthrough that will lead you to the shovel. However, there will be enemies attacking you throughout the cave so make sure you’re always ready to take out your weapon and fight.
