How to Get Cinderace in Scarlet and Violet

Limited Time Event

As Cinderace is the Fire Starter Pokémon in Sword and Shield, the main method of getting this Pokémon into Scarlet and Violet is via HOME. Whilst Scarlet and Violet is not yet compatible to transfer Pokémon in from other games, this will soon become available in 2023. With the 7-Star Tera Raid Cinderace Limited Time Event currently available for Scarlet and Violet players from December 29th to 31st, 2022. This Limited Time Event will run once more on January 12th to 14th, 2023 for those who may have missed Round 1.

For those playing in this Round 1 Event, you can nab yourself the 7-Star Cinderace from battling. Should you succeed in battle, you can use a Level Ball which will help you with Masuda Breeding this Pokémon.

Trading

The other method of getting yourself a Cinderace or Scorbunny is through Online Trading or joining a friend using the Union Circle. Either method can be used, however, for those who do not have friends available to trade or play with on Scarlet and Violet, the best method may be to wait for the game to become compatible on HOME.

However, for those who can trade or play with other, refer to the method of Masuda Breeding below to obtain a Shiny Cinderace in Scarlet and Violet.

How to Masuda Breed in Scarlet and Violet

In Scarlet and Violet, there are various methods to breed in the game. However, for finding Shiny Pokémon, we recommend using the Masuda method. This is when you trade Pokémon with the intent to obtain a different language Pokémon from another Scarlet/Violet version of the game. The Pokémon we are looking for is Ditto. This Pokémon can be found in West Province (Area Two) and may be disguised as another Pokémon. So make sure that you use the ZL Button to zoom in on the Pokémon name. If it is in disguise, the name will appear as ‘Ditto’.

With Ditto obtained, your next step is to trade this Pokémon with another Ditto. Use the Trade Code of ‘44484448‘ on the Poke Portal to trade for Ditto from other regions. This will hit the crucial criterion needed to Masuda Breed. Now that you have traded for a different region Ditto, you can begin the process of Breeding. So long as you have traded/obtained Cinderace through the Raid or via friends, you are only required to have these two Pokémon in order to Breed.

Alternatively, you can purchase the dish ‘Compote du Fils‘ over at Gastronomie en Famille which is 2,800 Pokémon Dollars. Use the Egg boosting Sandwiches above to increase your chances greatly of obtaining Eggs in the Picnic Basket. This is another crucial step in obtaining a Shiny Scorbunny. With Cinderace/Scorbunny and Ditto obtained, follow these steps to execute the Masuda Breeding process and obtain the Shiny Scorbunny you are looking for.

Masuda Breeding Step-by-step

  • First, make sure that your active party only has Scorbunny/Cinderace and Ditto in it.
  • Open the Picnic function and make your Egg boosting Sandwich. It’s effects will last you 30 minutes.
  • With your two Pokémon out in the Picnic, keep returning to the Picnic Basket and pick up any Eggs that appear inside.
  • Make sure that you empty the Basket regularly as it can only hold a total of 10 Eggs at one time.
  • With the Eggs collected, move out Scorbunny/Cinderace and Ditto back into the Boxes. Then move the Eggs into your active party.
  • Make sure to place a Pokémon with the ability ‘Flame Body‘ to fast-track the hatching process.
  • Repeat this process after watching the Eggs hatch until you obtain a Shiny Scorbunny.

How to Evolve Scorbunny into Cinderace

Once players successfully Breed and obtain a Shiny Scorbunny, the process to getting Cinderace is simple. All players have to do now is level up Scorbunny to Level 35 to get Cinderace. Those are the complete steps to obtaining a Shiny Cinderace in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Take advantage of the current 7-Star Tera Raid Event and catch yourself a Level 100 Cinderace. Alternatively, trade with a friend or patiently wait for the HOME app to become compatible with Scarlet and Violet. However, for those looking to catch themselves a Shiny Cinderace at the end of 2022, the best bet is to trade with someone who has beaten the Raid themselves. But, if you are feeling brave enough to take this Pokémon on, go for it and good luck.
