As of Scarlet and Violet’s initial release in November 2022, it is not possible for players to obtain Alolan forms. As of now, this instalment is not compatible with Pokémon HOME, a cloud storage space to hold your Pokémon gathered from previous games such as Arceus. HOME offers both a free and premium plan. The free plan gives players space to hold their Pokémon however, the storage is limited. As of now, HOME is compatible with Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Scarlet and Violet will join this list in Spring 2023 where players will be able to transfer their Alolan and Hisuian Pokémon in from other Pokémon games. Therefore, players will have to wait patiently for the ability to get Alolan and Hisuian Pokémon into Scarlet and Violet.

How to Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield to HOME

  • Open HOME on the Nintendo Switch.
  • Select ‘Pokémon’.
  • Click on Pokémon Sword and Shield. As this is the game you wish to connect to in order to transfer the Pokémon into the HOME Cloud.
  • Select the Pokémon you wish to transfer from Sword and Shield. From here, you can also transfer from HOME and into the Pokémon Boxes of Sword and Shield.
  • The Pokémon that you have captured in Sword and Shield will appear here. As if you were in the game looking through your Pokémon Boxes. Check the summary of the selected Pokémon, this will tell you which games are compatible with them.

Because the Alolan Pokémon (including that of Raichu) is not available to transfer into Scarlet and Violet, players will have to wait until Spring 2023 to bring their Alolan Pokémon into the Paldea region.
