For those that don’t know, Unturned is an open-world survival game that places players on a custom map where they can either fend off zombies or other players. Part of what makes this game so unique and popular is that players can create their own custom maps using the in-game editor, cosmetics and modes. It’s also entirely free-to-play for PC players.
Outside of the whole zombie thing, the world of Unturned is surprisingly realistic. Allowing you to take control of a range of vehicles including cars, bikes, planes and even helicopters. The latter of which are incredibly difficult to operate if you aren’t aware of the controls.

How to Fly a Helicopter in Unturned
Believe it or not, but learning how to fly a helicopter in Unturned is actually rather simple, so long as you’re aware of the necessary controls. That being said, how you control a helicopter will differ depending on which system you’re playing on.

How to Fly a Helicopter on PC
- Obtain a helicopter, a gas can and a blowtorch.
- Press and hold “W” to start flying, this will then be used to control the height as well.
- Use the arrow keys (or your mouse) to look around and the “W”, “A”, “S”, and “D” keys to turn once you’re in the air.
- Tilt the helicopter’s nose down to fly faster, or up to fly slower.
- Press and hold “S” to land the helicopter.
How to Fly a Helicopter on PS4 or Xbox One
- Obtain a helicopter, a gas can and a blowtorch.
- Press and hold the right trigger up to start flying, this will then be used to control the height as well.
- “X” (or “A” for Xbox) can be used to switch seats and “L3” (or “LS” for Xbox) will change the camera angle.
- Tilt the helicopter’s nose down to fly faster, or up to fly slower using the right trigger.
- Tilt and hold the right trigger down to land the helicopter.
