Dang it, wired my Warframe wrong...

How to Fix ‘some content updates could not be downloaded from our servers’ Warframe Error

This particular error is usually encountered when trying to launch the game after a big update has been released from the developers. Your copy of Warframe is always pinging the servers to ensure it’s up to date, but if that ping doesn’t work right, it can’t download the new game files from the server. In order to remedy this problem, there are a few tricks we can try:

  • Check your internet connection and antivirus
  • Change launch settings
  • Reinstall Windows C++ Redistributable Libraries
  • Reinstall the game

Check Your Internet Connection and Antivirus

If your copy of Warframe says it can’t get through to the server, the first thing you should do is check your internet settings. Go take a peek at your router to make sure it’s working properly, and maybe perform a quick power cycle just to give it a kick in the pants. If you can’t seem to get your internet working on your end, there could be an outage in your area. Try calling your provider for updates.

Besides the connection itself, your antivirus program may be stymieing the download process. Open your antivirus utility and add Warframe’s executable file to your whitelist to ensure it doesn’t get blocked. If you can’t do that, just temporarily disable your antivirus until you can get the update downloaded and installed.

Change Launch Settings

Sometimes, launching Warframe with particular settings can cause problems, mostly depending on the kind of platform you’re playing on. If you can still open up the Warframe launcher without opening the game, you can tweak the launch settings. You’d be surprised which incidental settings can clear the way; try switching the game language, the DirectX setting, or the graphical settings.

Speaking of language, if you think this problem might be regional, you can try connecting to the internet through a VPN to change your region. If you connect from elsewhere in the country, that may be enough to get you through.

Reinstall Windows C++ Redistributable Libraries

Good ol’ Windows, always finding new and interesting ways to break itself. Every game you install on a PC has its own set of C++ Redistributable Libraries. If these libraries are corrupted somehow, they can lock you out of your copy. If you open the Uninstall menu in the Programs and Features section of your Windows control panel, you can modify the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package. Just click Repair on each library to fix them up.

Reinstall the Game

If all else fails, you might just need to suck it up and reinstall Warframe. Whether you’re playing through Steam or a game console, just uninstall the game the same way you originally installed it, then install it again. A fresh install can repair any bugged or broken files, which will hopefully clear the way for that update.
