How to fix Modern Warfare 2 Game Crashing When Resuming the Campaign

Believe it or not, but COD MW 2 needs some juice to run smoothly on PCs. Considering not everyone is best at handling the settings in the game, here are some solutions to fixing the crashing problem.

Changing The Graphics Settings

There is a big possibility that you have not optimized your graphics settings in the game. Now, there are tons of options under the graphics tab and everyone’s PC is different. So we recommend you to tune down all the graphics settings by two notches. For example, if Texture Resolution is set to High, tune it down to Low.

We advise you to adjust the settings to put a lesser load on your system so you can run the game without crashing it. Play around with the settings and see what works best for you.

Repair Modern Warfare 2

Game crashes may occur because of corrupt or missing files in the game’s directory. It’s best to run the repair feature to mend the problems. If you have MW 2 on Steam, head over to your Steam Library tab and right-click the game. Click Properties and choose the Local Files tab. Click on Verify integrity of game files.

If you have it on Battle.net, click on the cog icon beside the play button of the game. Now select the Scan and repair option.

Switch On Hi-Rez Assets Cache

Hi-Rez Assets Cache is a setting in Modern Warfare 2 which is meant for streaming high-resolution assets. However, some users have seen the crashes stop after enabling this setting. You can try to enable it, but make sure you have at least 32 GB of spare space on your drive.

These are some solutions you could use to fix the crashes in the game. If you are interested in knowing the frames MW 2 is providing while playing, check out the How to Enable FPS Counter in Modern Warfare 2 guide.
