How to Get a Fishing Rod in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To fish, you must first acquire a fishing rod. When you begin the game, the fishing rod is one of the Royal Tools you need to collect to proceed in the game. To find this, you must walk south of the plaza into the Peaceful Meadow. Large stones will block every path, so you’ll need the royal pickaxe to break through, which can be found stuck in a stone in the plaza.

Once you have broken down the stones in your way, simply walk forwards till you find some ponds.

The ponds will bubble. In front of one of those ponds will be a fishing rod. Pick it up and go to Goofy’s house, where he’ll trade the broken fishing rod for a working one.

Use ‘tab’ or use the shortcut to equip your new fishing rod. Now all you need to do is find a pond! A pond with fish in it will be indicated by ripples and bubbles. You must cast your line directly into the ripples.

To do this, hold space. A white disk will start going further forward the longer you hold it. This is where your fishing hook will land. When the white disk is inside the ripples, let go of space. Your line will be cast.

If you missed it, then then the fishing rod will be reeled back in. Simply reposition yourself and try again.

If you landed it correctly, then your character will assume the correct position. Fish won’t bite your hook right away, so be patient, it won’t take long for you to catch a bite.

When you’ve caught a fish, you will have to click the mouse button once quickly. The fish won’t hang around forever.

If you successfully click in time, then a thick white circle will appear around your hook. A thinner white circle will appear further out, and will slowly shrink. You must click when the thin circle hits the thicker circle. Once you do, you may have to do it again.

For more worthy fish, they may be more difficult to catch, so be on guard and be quick with your reflexes!
