The introduction of Red Border weapons into Destiny 2 was a mixed bag for many. On one hand, it finally brought weapon crafting to the table. On the other, it meant we now needed to farm red border weapons in Destiny 2, on top of all the other activities, items, and resources that we already had to farm.
The grind with red border weapons in Destiny 2 is real – especially as certain weapons only drop from certain activities. So, naturally, you’re going to want to make sure you’re grinding out activities as efficiently as possible.
This guide is here to try and shed some light on the process of farming red border weapons in Destiny 2.
How to Farm Red Border Weapons in Destiny 2
Unfortunately, you can’t. At least, you can’t in a traditional farming sense. There’s no loot cave equivalent for red border weapons. They’re completely activity and RNG-based, with pretty much no way to influence that RNG.
So, if you want to farm red border weapons in Destiny 2, the only thing you can really do is complete your activity of choice as efficiently and quickly as possible.
There are several different sources of deep-sight resonance weapons in Destiny 2, all of which have different pools of possible drops. For example, if you wanted to farm the strike weapons, the only way to do that would be to boot up the strike playlist and complete each run as quickly as you possibly could. Beyond that, there’s nothing else you can really do.
There are a few ways to guarantee a red border drop from certain activities once per week, though. For example, the Vow of the Desciple raid has a secret chest that guarantees a deep-sight resonance raid weapon once per week. The War Table in the HELM also has an upgrade that makes the first weapon you purchase each week be a red border variant.
So, unless you’re after seasonal or raid red border weapons, your only choice is to grind out the activity that drops your desired weapon.
Destiny 2 – Sources of Deepsight Resonance Weapons
There are a handful of different sources of red border weapons in Destiny 2. As more and more guns get added to the weapon crafting system, the list of sources will likely expand until it consumes every activity in the game.
At its core, though, these are the main sources you’ll want to be farming for deep-sight weapons in Destiny 2:
- Wellspring Weapons
- Throne World Weapons
- Raid Weapons
- World Pool – Strikes/Crucible/Gambit
- Seasonal Activities
Beyond simply doing each activity fast, though, there’s not much you can do to optimize your grind. We wish we had more for you, but that’s really what it boils down to – just play the game.
Destiny 2 is a complicated game, which is why we’ve put together a whole host of guides covering everything you could possibly need to know. We’ll be pumping out new pieces periodically, too, so make sure you check back often.
