Where to Find Cauldron: THETA

Cauldron: THETA is the latest Dungeon added into the Horizon franchise. What we typically know of the most basic of Cauldrons is that their entrance is easy to locate and even easier to unlock. Usually, you will have a giant door that Aloy can open, however as the games and DLC have gone on, the requirements to getting into these Cauldrons have increased in difficulty. Cauldron: THETA is a prime example of this. Rather than a door to head into, THETA is a ravine of spewing lava where the only way to access it is through the use of the Glider.

You will find the Cauldron entrance ways marked on the Map below (red spots). You will want to head to the far east red mark which on your Map Overview will be directly over the giant tear in the terrain.

How to Enter the Cauldron

It is crucial that you have the Glider to get inside the Cauldron as the drop into the Dungeon is too much for Aloy to handle. Whilst players may want to swoop in, in style with the Waterwing, this will not be possible. Therefore the only real way of descending into THETA is by using the Glider. The Glider is obtained in the base game of Horizon Forbidden West. This is unlocked by completing The Embassy Questline. If you are playing the DLC after completing the base game, you will likely have the Shieldwing Glider unlocked as it is a Main Quest reward.

To get inside THETA, simply drop down into the ravine and be sure to pull out the Glider, pulling north towards the platform and avoiding being burnt by the flowing lava around you. The main Cauldron door that we were referencing earlier can be found at the heart of the ravine. You will need to use the Glider once more to get down to the safe level where the Cauldron door is found at the North-East side of the clearing. The Glider will be your friend in THETA and used throughout your journey. Upon using the first geyser to enter the first room of the Dungeon you will be instantly greeted by mechanical foes.

THETA behaves the same as other Dungeons, with puzzles and platforming to complete as you are ambushed by waves of enemies. It is until you override the Cauldron’s Core that the challenge truly begins with the arrival of Apex Bilegut.
