This method can become a bit tedious as people are having to try and sell more and more inexpensive items for a chance to earn enough rubies to bid on what they want in the auction house. Alternatively, the only other way to earn rubies is buy exchanging them with diamonds. Unfortunately, diamonds can only be acquired by spending real world money.
Essentially what this means for players is unless a significant amount of time is spent grinding lesser items to then sell at the auction house, they will need to spend more and more money every day to get diamonds if they want good items. This system along with others in the game forces the player to make rash financial choices if they want to continue to be good in the game.
