In order to begin customizing your car, open up the game and either head to Campaign or Lakeshore Online to do so. Each game mode gives you your own unique garage of cars to begin amassing and customizing. From either of them you’ll need to choose Rides from your choices within the Garage.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to begin customizing your cars. You’ll have two different choices of customization; Style and Performance. Style has to do with the look and aesthetics of your vehicle, having nothing to do with how it operates. Performance, however, directly influences the way your car performs and has no effect on visuals.

Here’s each category broken down.

Style

  • Body – This allows you to choose various body kits as well as edit each part of your vehicle’s body, and its stance, ie. height and camber tilt.
  • Paint & Wrap – This lets you edit the paint and wraps on your car as well as save them for later use, and pick some from the online community library.
  • Driving Effects – Here, you can choose your Tags which are the smoke trail your car leaves as well as Samples which are the sound your vehicle will make as it drives.
  • Vanity Items – You can change the sound your car Horn makes, equip your car with gorgeous Underglow neon, and attach Air Suspension for some extra oomph.
  • Exhaust Sound – Lastly, there is the Exhaust Sound which can be finely tuned, giving your car yet another layer of sound.

Performance

  • Engines – You can purchase and equip your vehicle with more horsepower
  • Parts – You have various part attachments that will adjust many of your car’s stats, as well as its ranking, the better the parts you put into it.
  • Handling – This gives you the chance to make your car feel like more of an extension of yourself, thus easier to drive.
  • Upgrade Garage – If you can afford to upgrade your garage you’ll be able to purchase better parts.

Aside from all of that to know, you can also purchase and sell vehicles, as well as view your cars and choose which ones you want to customize from the Garage.
