Facing wave after wave of enemies is the bread and butter of Warhammer 40K: Darktide. Choosing the best classes, weapons, and strategies is required to survive the toughest of encounters the game has to offer. Doing so however is easier said than done, especially playing in matchmade servers. Whether it’s to face the hardest challenge Darktide has to offer, or simply goofing off with friends, private lobbies are the way to go. While doing so is a bit fickle at the moment, there is a way to play privately, with some caveats, All it takes is a few minutes and friends will be able to play together in Tertium.
Can a Private Lobby be set up?
Fortunately, setting up a private lobby in Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a quick and simple process. so long as you have other players. As of launch, there is no way to create private instances of the game. This means that players cannot play matches solo or with a few friends. Some players may be out of luck, only being able to play match-made games. However, if players have three friends who also play Darktide, a solution of sorts is available. Simply invite friends to your lobby, and a private lobby of sorts will be created. As all the player slots are filled in, random players are not able to join in.

Still, players have been requesting the ability to create private lobbies, as some simply don’t have enough friends playing the game to fill out a lobby. Developers Fatshark have heard this issue loud and clear thankfully. Aiming for late December, Darktide aims to implement private servers. Meaning that if players only have one friend to help out, they can still play. Any leftover player slots will simply be taken over by in-game AI.
