How to Copy and Paste on Roblox

Copy and pasting text is a helpful basic skill to have while you're playing Roblox.

You know what makes me feel really old? Realizing that today’s kids have never known the mild irk of having to highlight text, go all the way up to the Edit bar to copy it, then go up there again to paste it. We live in an era of the copy/paste shortcut, and honestly? Thank goodness for it. That quick macro is helpful both for doing homework and for playing games like Roblox. Speaking of which, here’s how to copy and paste on Roblox.

How to Copy and Paste on Roblox

Copy and pasting text is a helpful basic skill to have while you’re playing Roblox. Maybe you’re chatting with friends and need to repeat something someone said, but don’t want to type the whole thing out again. Or maybe a friend gave you some kind of code and you don’t have a pen and paper handy. With a copy and a paste, it’s right there!

One quick note before we get started here: copying and pasting can only be done on platforms with text interfaces, including PC, Mac, and mobile devices. If you’re playing Roblox on a console like an Xbox, you’re unfortunately out of luck.

The Copy/Paste Shortcuts

Assuming you’re playing on a home computer like a PC or Mac, all you need to do is move your mouse cursor over to the text you want to copy and click and drag across it. This will highlight the text. At this point, if you’re on a PC, hold the Ctrl key on the bottom-left of your keyboard and press the C key. If you’re on a Mac, hold down the Cmd key and press the C key. In either case, this will copy the highlighted text to your computer’s clipboard.

When you’ve copied some text, click on a spot where you can enter it in, like a code box or a chat window. Hold down the Ctrl key again for PC or the Cmd key for Mac and press the V key. This will paste the text you copied into the text prompt, nice and easy.

If you’re playing on a mobile device like a phone or tablet, use your finger to press down on the text you want to highlight. It’ll usually only highlight one word at a time, but if you drag your finger, you can highlight more. Most mobile devices will then open a small prompt asking if you want to copy, so just tap on that button to copy the text. After that, just tap and hold on the spot you want to enter the text, and you should get a prompt to paste. Tap the button, and there it is.
