How to Complete Freedom of the Press Gig in Cyberpunk 2077

One of Cyberpunk 2077‘s side jobs in Watson is to rescue a man named Max Jones. You’ll need to head to an old broadcast TV studio building in Northside. He disturbed a hornet’s nest, so to speak, and now Regina Jones wants to save him. The gig is relatively straightforward, but there’s a scene where you need to act quickly, or you’ll fail and have to start over. Here’s how to complete Freedom of the Press in Cyberpunk 2077.

Start by heading to the old broadcast station in Northside, Watson. Make sure you have the gig available in your journal first, though. Once you’re there, you can proceed with the guide.

There are two entrances into the old TV studio building. You can either break through the front door if you have 8 Technical Ability or go through a hole in the roof. The other entrance is accessible by jumping on a dumpster and hopping on the roof from the building’s left side.

Once you’re inside, there’s a computer to hack near the reception desk. Get your datamines, and make your way down the hallway. Look out for the laser-activated trip mines. They will surely destroy you in one hit, and you’ll need to start over. Beware of the turrets, as well. You can destroy them with a few shots from power weapons.

Make sure to take out all the trip mines because you need to escort Max out of the building, and they could easily kill him. Make your way up the stairs after destroying both turrets and all the trip mines, and open the door to find Max.

After opening the door, Max will ask if you’re a corpo. You have about five seconds to say, “Nope, I’m not.” Refrain from shooting Max, as well. If you kill him, Regina Jones will hate you and probably not give you any more jobs. Speak with Max, and tell him Regina just wants to help.

When the dialogue is over, escort Max Jones back the way you came. Exit the building and make your way out back, where Regina sent a car to wait for him. Once that’s done, you can head to the nearby drop box to pick up your reward.
