The adorable little hero of Tunic sports an iconic color palette that suits his little fox frame perfectly. However, if you have the urge to give him a completely different look, you’re in luck. Hidden in the game’s opening area is a secret room that allows you to change the color of every element of the fox’s ensemble.
How To Find The Color Change Room
The color change room is located in the Overworld section of Tunic, which is the name for the game’s central, starting region. You’ll need the sword to reach it, as it requires cutting down some of those blocky trees that block several paths.
Start by heading up the stairway in the middle of the Overworld until you reach the fox shrine. Head left toward the windmill, then take the ladder down into the courtyard below. Take out the enemies here and head all the way to the left to find a ramp leading down a level. Head down and along the path leading past the open doorway to reach another courtyard with a shallow fountain in the middle. There’s a guidebook page on an island in the middle of the fountain.

The room you’re looking for is just past this fountain behind a row of tall, fir trees. You’ll need to step into the small space between one of the trees and the wall, then walk back behind the trees. You’ll descend down the hidden ramp and into the room below.
How To Use The Color Change Room
There are four privacy screens in the room, and each one changes the color of a different part of the fox’s ensemble when you walk behind them. The bottom left-hand screen changes his nose, boots, and gloves, the upper left changes his body, the upper right his tunic, and the bottom right his scarf. The pedestal in the middle also zooms the camera in so you can get a better look at your new look.
To actually use the screens, just walk behind them. A small audio cue will chime and the fox will come out with a different color. And don’t worry if you accidentally pass the color you want, as you can just walk back through in the opposite direction. This cycles the colors the other way, giving you ease of use to make the best fox you possibly can.
There’s also a fifth privacy screen tucked into a secret room. You can reach it by walking through the hidden passage in the left corner of the room. This screen allows you to change the color of the fox’s forelock, adding yet another customization option. There’s also a chest at the entrance with a wishing well coin inside, which can be used to add additional ability slots.
Tunic is available now for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
