Taking on a similar gameplay mechanic to Yakuza in that players can develop and grow new fighting styles to match their playstyle, Street Fighter 6 offers this through a Bonding System with your Master. But selecting your Master can be tough as you may not know what Master Action you will learn through maximizing your bond. This system works similarly to Visual Novels and RPGs, where the player will want to gift and converse with the Master regularly in order to increase their bonds. If you are looking for ways of changing your Master Assist in Street Fighter 6 however, then this is Vincent’s guide on how to do just that.
What is Master Assist?
In Street Fighter 6, the Story Mode – World Tour, allows players to develop their moves and test their skills in a Yakuza-style adventure. You will be able to learn from the very best by meeting the Legendary Fighters, being the mascots of the Street Fighter franchise themselves. From Luke and Ryu to Chun-Li and Guile, these will be available to you as your chosen Master. By increasing your bond with your Master, you will not only learn of Master Actions but also be able to call them into a fight and ‘Assist’ you further, combining your moves with theirs. This, however, can only be done with a strong bond between yourself and the Master of your choosing.
How to Change Master Assist in Street Fighter 6
As you progress through World Tour, you will meet various Legendary Fights along the way who you can choose to be your Mentor, or in this case, Master. These will teach you their Master Actions, therefore you will want to meet as many Fighters as you can to stock up on new moves to utilize in fights or across the open world. These Actions act as Emotes that you can select at any given moment, allowing you to easily traverse around the map or break and move items.

For those who want to change Master Assist, you will first need to maximize your bond with your chosen Master. You can do this by completing Missions for them or conversing and gifting items. As you can only call in one Master at a time during a fight, you may wish to change up your playstyle by calling in another Legendary Name to the fold. This can keep things new and exciting to your gameplay and change things up if you decide you get bored of your chosen Master.
If you are not big on gift-giving, you can choose to Spar with your Master in order to increase that competitive bond between the two of you. You will learn of new conversational topics that show a deeper connection between the two of you if you focus your attention on talking, completing tasks, and presenting presents whilst occasionally sparring with your Master. If you have multiple Masters but want to utilize a specific Master to assist in fights, you will want to increase your bond with that Master only. Once the bond is higher than the other Masters, this will automatically make that Master your Assist. If you decide that you want to switch out, simply boost your bond with another Master so that they have the highest bond.
Can you Switch Master Assist with Max Bond?
If you have managed to get a max bond with more than one Master, you will find that you cannot simply switch out or choose who comes out when fighting. If you call a Master into the ring mid-fight, the one that answers may not be who you were expecting. Any of the max bond Masters could appear and there is no way to predetermine who will be your Master Assist at that point.
