Baldur’s Gate 3 really makes you feel like you’re playing a table-top D&D campaign. Set with illustrious character profiles, backstories, and dice to roll. Speaking on the latter, player’s are given a 20 sided die they’ll use throughout the game. This feature is utilized in the best of ways, and helps add an extra layer of spice and mystery into your playthroughs. With possibilities of changing the outcome of a conversation to benefit you, or dooming you to an unwinnable fight. Developers over at Larian Studios also decided to give people cosmetic choice over their dice. Another nifty option that won’t affect the game, but will make those true 20’s you hit all the much cooler. So let’s take a chance and figure out how to change dice in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3).

The die players are given to roll for skill checks in Baldur’s Gate 3 don’t actually take up any space in your inventory. Instead it’ll pop up any time a player chooses a dialogue option that requires a skill or train of some kind. Modifiers to your dice roll will depend on things such as what skills you’re focusing on, situational occurrences, and more. And in order to customize your plain jane die, you’ll need to actually get to a roll screen first.

Players will be able to change their dice skin before they roll during a skill check. When the screen pops up where you can see your die and it wants you to go ahead and roll it, don’t. You’ll want to look in the bottom left of the screen and there should be a purple hexagon logo. Select the logo, and you can choose any of your currently unlocked dice skins. If you were able to snag the digital deluxe edition, you’ll have the option of choosing a Dragonflame Red die. Furthermore if you shelled out the big bucks for the collector’s edition, you’ll get another exclusive die skin, matching the oversized real-life one you’ll now own as well.
