Back in the old days, and at the beginning of the franchise, God of War featured a completely different game style than what we saw on God of War (2018) and now Ragnarök. One of the abilities that Kratos possessed was the ability to shoot arrows from a distance. This granted a much-needed range attack that took care of flying enemies and enemies far from reach. However, after all this fighting years, the role of arrow bearer has fallen into his son, Atreus. And while ranged attacks have not been totally abandoned on Kratos’ arsenal (he throws his axe very aggressively), Atreus takes care of the ranged domain. In the previous game, a new mechanic involved Atreus being able to change the arrow types he shot, in order to adapt himself to every enemy and situation. With that precedent, here is how to change arrows in God of War Ragnarök.
How to Change Arrows in God of War Ragnarök
Atreus’ wits and speed is pretty much determines by your ability to think three-dimensionally. That means that while you’re dealing axe mayhem to your enemies, you will have to think when and where you should use Atreus’ bow and arrow abilities. Furthermore, you should think about the type of arrows that will best fit the situation at hand. In order to do this, you will to press Up on the D-pad. Once you unlock the arrow types in the game, you will learn which type belong to which situation. This could either be by attacking a certain type of enemy or encountering a certain obstacle in the game.
I won’t spoil you any further, so make sure to remember your button mashing chops and make the best out of the Kratos and Atreus duo.
