How to catch Cyclommatus Stag in Animal Crossing New Horizons

• Months: July and August (Northern) or January and February (Southern)
• Time: 5 pm – 8 am

The Cyclommatus Stag is one of the rare Coconut Tree stags in Animal Crossing New Horizons. These bugs can sometimes be challenging to find, so we made this guide to outline some good practices. The optimal time to go hunting for these little guys is during the hours of 7 pm and 11 pm in July or January, depending on your Hemisphere. 

You can find the Cyclommatus Stag on any Palm or Coconut Tree on the island, as long as you are looking during the correct month and time of day. It is possible to find this bug on your own island, but we do not recommend that. 

Instead, it would help if you spent some Nook Miles trying to get over to Stag Island. This particular island has only a 2% chance to spawn, but if you find it, you can collect every Coconut Stag in one session. If you do not have Nook Miles to spend, you can find them on your own island using the following method.

Cut down any regular trees and destroy any rocks surrounding the Coconut Trees to lower the competition of other bug spawns. When you go actually to catch the Cyclommatus Stag, you should approach it slowly as if it were a Tarantula. As you approach it, stop moving when it becomes alert and stands still. Continue to get near it when it is wiggling around. You can then swing your net when you are close enough and check this one off your Critterpedia.
