Here’s the Soft-shelled Turtle’s seasonality, active hours, and location:

  • Critter: Soft-shelled Turtle
  • Northern Hemisphere Seasonality: August-September
  • Southern Hemisphere Seasonality: February-March
  • Active Hours: 4 pm – 9 am
  • Location: River
  • Shadow: Large
  • Price: 3,750 Bells

The Soft-shelled Turtle can be one of the more difficult critters to catch in ACNH. You can find it most hours of the day, with its active hours between 4 pm and 9 am local time. It’s one of the new critters available in August and September, so there’s a good chance you haven’t got this one yet unless you’re a time traveler or located in the Southern Hemisphere.

When you’re looking for the Soft-shelled Turtle, keep an eye out for a medium to large shadow in the rivers. For the best odds of spotting one of these, you will want to check between the hours of 4 pm and 9 pm in September for Northern Hemisphere players. If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, aim for between 4 pm and 9 pm in March. That doesn’t mean you won’t catch one in August or other times of the day. There are less competing fish during that season and time of day.

Now that you know the Soft-shelled Turtle’s seasonality, active hours, location, and shadow size, it’s time to catch one. Good luck fishing out there! Be sure to check out our fish prices and locations guide for a more complete overview.
