How to Catch a Scorpion in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Catching a Scorpion may seem like a daunting task, but it’s actually quite easy once you understand their pattern. First, we need to take a look at what months and what time of day the Scorpion can be found.

Scorpion Details – Northern Hemisphere

You can find Scorpions out and about during the nighttime from 7 PM through 4 AM during the months of May through October.

  • Time of Day: 7 PM – 4 AM
  • Months: May – October

Scorpion Details – Southern Hemisphere

In the Southern Hemisphere, the months in which you can find a Scorpion are swapped.

  • Time of Day: 7 PM – 4 AM
  • Months: November – April

Now that you know to look for these little guys during the night, it’s time to go looking for one. When looking for Scorpions, do not have your net out because they will attack you if you do. Only pull out your net when you’re about to catch one.

Instead, once you spot a scorpion you should pull out your net and hold the A button to sneak up to it very slowly. The scorpion with lift up its pincers and look like it’s ready to attack you at a certain point. When this happens you need to stop moving for a couple of seconds until it relaxes again.

Inch closer to the scorpion once it relaxes and keep repeating this process until you are close enough to swing your net and catch it. Make sure not to stop moving for too long or the scorpion will end up running away and you’ll need to find another one.

One thing to note is when to release the A button. Your net swing covers about two holes worth of reach. This means when you’re about 2 hole lengths away from the Scorpion, you can release A and go for the catch.

After catching one, you can sell it or donate it! Scorpions sell for a whopping 8,000 Bells, making it one of the most valuable insects in the game.
