The beach is a prime spot for socializing and meeting new people, but it also comes with its own set of rules and etiquette. One of the most important rules of the beach is that you must never abuse the power of volleyball. Those who break this rule must be taught a harsh lesson. Here’s how to beat Yamada in Volleyball in River City Girls 2.
How to Beat Yamada in Volleyball in River City Girls 2
Not long after you defeat Tsuiko in Technos and clear the way further into Ocean Heights, you’ll receive a text from your friend Kaori, who’s hanging out on the beach to the west of the big sand castle (conspicuously alone, as usual). Apparently, Yamada, one of the bosses from the first game, has been using his edgy dark powers to harass her and kick sand up at her, though Kaori speculates that’s just his way of trying to meet girls. Either way, you need to get him to knock it off.

When you start this mission, you’ll be on the left side of the volleyball net in a screen lock, while Yamada hurls orbs of dark energy at you from the other side. When these orbs are about to crash down on your side, you’ll see a warning target, so steer clear. While he’s hurling magical thingies at you, the usual assortment of grunts will appear on your side of the court looking for a fight.
Rule the Volleyball Court
This mission is a little confusing because Kaori tells you outright that you need to beat Yamada at volleyball. There is a volleyball on the ground on your side of the court, but if you try to throw it over the net, it just bounces back and hits you in the face. As it turns out, this is actually just a regular combat encounter. You just need to beat up all of the enemies as they spawn in on your side of the field. Try to lure them into Yamada’s attacks if you can, but don’t get hit, or else you may be poisoned. The screen lock won’t take visible damage as you defeat opponents, but you are making progress.
Once you defeat a certain number of enemies, Yamada will end his magical onslaught, whining about how you’re butting in, but ultimately agreeing to leave Kaori alone. For helping her out, you’ll receive some XP and cash, as well as the “It’s Time to Play” Achievement. Always a good time for a Top Gun reference.
