Where Seek lingers

Seek is an enemy that you have no choice but to face twice.

You will encounter Seek first between levels 30 – 40. You will then encounter Seek between levels 80 – 90. Seek’s arrival is forewarned by flashing eyes and inky eyes on the wall. This is known as ‘Seek’s Crescendo’. Rush, Halt, and Ambush will not attack during Seek’s Crescendo, as the eyes tamper with the lights.

Seek will only spawn in one room, its own pregenerated hallway. When you reach the end, Seek will rise behind you, and you will start running forwards without needing to press the forward key. The chase is on.

Outrunning Seek

Both of Seek’s running sequences are essentially the exact same, the only differences being texture of the walls in the second sequence, and that the second sequence goes on for two rooms longer than the first sequence.

The actual chase will have you sprinting through rooms to avoid being caught by Seek. There are two types of rooms, obstacle rooms and hallway rooms.

In the obstacle rooms, you will have to duck under fallen obstacles. Don’t worry, you will still be quick but don’t spend the whole room crouching. Guiding light will pinpoint where you can crouch under the obstacles.

You may have to crouch a couple times before you get to the door.

In the hallway rooms, the room will be split into two paths that join at the end. There will be a door on the left and right side as well as at the end. Any one of the doors will be the one you need, and it will be highlighted with guiding light. You need to travel the correct path immediately if the door is on the sides. You don’t have enough of a lead to walk around the whole thing if you take a wrong turn.

So focus and don’t worry about running. Keep you eyes out for the guiding light and duck or turn accordingly. Seek will roar if it is close, and if you fall behind some more, it will kill you instantly.

The final room of both sequences takes place in a grand hallway. There will be chandeliers on fire in the middle of the hall that will damage you. Black hands will reach from the windows. The black hands, if you run into them, will kill you instantly, but the chandeliers will only harm you, so don’t worry if you have to move into a fire to avoid a hand.

Simply run around the chandeliers on the sides where no hands are close to the floor.

When you make it through the last door, an audio cue will play and the door will get shut on Seek.
