Elder Mist is one of the first bosses you will encounter during your adventures in Sea of Stars. He is the boss of the Elder Mist Trials, a set of challenges that will test your combat and puzzle-solving abilities. Once done, you will face this sword-wielding boss. Naturally, you will want to hit him with everything you’ve got. However, you will be surprised that he will block every single attack you attempt to land.

You see, when you target Elder Mist, you will eventually discover that you can instead target his sword. You will want to hit his sword with your most powerful attacks to disable it momentarily. This is important for two major reasons. First, it will leave the Elder Mist vulnerable. Second, it will prevent him from using the Counter Slash attack, which will heavily damage all of your party.

With the Elder Mist’s sword recharging, he will only deal with his Fist Slam attack, which will harm one of your party members at a time. It is not as deadly as the Counter Slash, so you can go ahead and just focus your efforts on damaging the Elder Mist instead of healing. He will eventually attempt to heal his sword with a blue orb, so attack it to interrupt it. Repeat this process as many times as needed, heal if necessary, and you will defeat the Elder Mist.

The Elder Mist is vulnerable to Lunar and Solar attacks, so you can probably focus on dealing those types of attacks to defeat him even faster. Once you defeat him you will gain the ability to move time forward and backward, which will allow you to solve Eclipse puzzles.
