How to Beat Dorgalua, the Final Boss

The final boss, Dorgalua, is your final battle of the game. It is, without a doubt, the hardest battle of the game. He will deploy 12 units with a surprise mechanic that we will describe later, and you will need to use all of your strength, items and tactics to attempt to beat this boss. This battle has two stages, so be sure to be ready for what is to come. Here is how to beat Dorgalua, the Final Boss of Tactics Ogre: Reborn.

First Stage

The first thing Dorgalua will do is to summon Doppelgängers of every unit you have deployed in the battlefield. By the way the enemy distributes its units, you will want to position your weakest enemies at the front, with the most powerful ones on the back.

  • Dorgalua will employ his Risk Management skill, which will protect him at this stage, since he is very fragile in his current form.
  • He will also use a powerful spell called Word of Pain, but he will limit himself to protect himself and deal the occasional damage.
  • Focus on your doppelgängers and fight them with strategy. While they will match your skill, they will not get copies of your items. Combine the usage of items and get rid of these clones.
  • Once you get Dorgalua to a third of its maximum health, the second stage of the battle will begin.

Second Stage

You will be teleported to a new battlefield and Dorgalua will transform into its Dark Lord form, which is now incredibly powerful compared to its former form. He will have some new skills as well, so beware, since things are about to get more difficult. Also, any knocked out units in the previous stage will remain the same in this one, so be sure to revive them at once.

  • Dorgalua will have three skills: Umbra, Exhalatio and Howl.
  • Umbra has a large area of effect and deals a lot of damage along with a Frighten status, reducing your attack and defense. Since it has such an AoE, keep your units separate from each other to avoid unnecessary damage.
  • Exhalatio will drain magic points and a good amount of damage outputs. Use MP items for some recovery, and use units that are more physical oriented.
  • Howl has the possibility of stunning your units.
  • When dealing with Dorgalua, do not attempt to directly confront him, it will be useless. Be sure to stack physical buff cards with the units with the most physical strenght. Magic units will falter to its Exhalatio ability.
  • If you have a well-trained dual wielder, equip him with Lombardia and Brynhildr which will deal a lot of damage and cut through Dorgalua’s defenses.
  • Be sure to persevere, and eventually you will beat Dorgalua. It may take a little bit of luck, but it is certainly not impossible.
