How to Alley-Oop in NBA 2K23

In NBA 2K23, alley-oops are renowned for being one of the most difficult moves to pull off, with a high risk of turnover if you’re not careful. That being said, they’re also one of the best ways to steal momentum from your opponent and energize your team as well as the fans in the stands.

In order to master the art of the alley-oop in NBA 2K23, there are actually three different styles of alley-oop you will need to learn; to a teammate, to yourself, and with a slick bounce pass. Here is how to perform all three alley-oop passes in NBA 2K23;

  • Alley-Oop to a teammate – To perform a classic alley-oop to a teammate, simply double-tap the lob pass button (Y for Xbox and Triangle for PlayStation) and move the left analog stick towards the player you wish to receive the ball. Make sure that your intended target is near or moving towards the rim as you attempt the alley-oop.
  • Alley-Oop to yourself – You can alley-oop the ball to yourself by double-tapping the lob pass button again but this time, make sure your player is on the way to the rim with space to make a play. Instead of passing the ball to your teammate, you will pass the ball off the backboard and back to yourself to complete the dunk, so long as you have space to do so.
  • Alley-Oop bounce pass – This one’s a little more difficult and relies heavily on timing. To pull off a bounce pass alley-oop, you’ll need to hit the pass and bounce pass buttons at the same time while directing the left analog stick in the direction of the intended target. This will be A + B for Xbox and X + O for PlayStation.
