Crossplay functionality is now a thing in Season 15 of Destiny 2. Gamers out there who have not been able to play with their friends on PC, now it’s a possibility. That’s why we’re here to give you a quick step-by-step walkthrough on how to add Bungie friends for some Destiny 2 crossplay action. The process is pretty straightforward, but it may still need some explaining.

Instead of using an in-game system utilizing Steam names, Xbox names, or PlayStation names, everything is done through Bungie’s services. That means you will need to get a person’s specific Bungie ID to add them. The Bungie ID is essentially your username with four random numbers at the end, similar to how Battle.net works, if you’re familiar.

To add friends on Destiny 2 for crossplay, you will need to get their Bungie name. You can find your Bungie name inside of the Director while playing Destiny 2. Hover over your nametag, and look for the section labeled “Bungie Name.” It will be your regular name with four digits after it.

Navigate to the Roster tab, and enter your friend’s Bungie name in the Search by Bungie Name box. Be sure to include all four digits. Send a friend request to them, and then wait for them to accept the invitation in-game.

Another option you can try is going to the Bungie Friends website and creating an account. You can also sync up your existing Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or Steam account to the system. When you’re registered, you can add friends to your list this way using their ID. Your friend will need to accept the invitation inside of the Destiny 2 game itself.

When you have cross-platform friends added to your friends list, you can invite them to join your Fireteam. The process is the same as before. Open up the Roster tab from the Director, and you can click on their name from the friends list. You should notice an icon next to their name, showing which platform they are using.

Note that voice comms are not yet enabled for crossplay. Bungie said this is a “coming soon” feature, as is the Bungie name-changing process. Both of those features should be out sometime in the next few months.
